Walden Pond

Our first glimpse of Walden Pond.

Scott walking along the beach... The two dots in the distance are swimmers.

Public swimming area - Walden Pond gets lots of visitors.  In summer, sometimes you can't get in because the parking lot has only 1,000 spaces!  No wonder, it's a very beautiful and relaxing place.

Kayaking...

Henry David Thoreau lived at Walden Pond from July 1845 to September 1847.  His experience provided material for his book Walden which is credited with helping to inspire awareness and respect for our natural environment.

A replica of Thoreau's cabin.

The cabin was modestly furnished and cost Thoreau only $28.12 to build!

We're here on a beautiful late autumn afternoon.

Notice the rock cairn beside the sign; people leave rocks, some with Thoreau quotes written on them.
