Dill's Atlantic Giants

Scott and I were searching for a place to view the Bay of Fundy and stumbled on the small town of Winsor, Nova Scotia.  Howard Dill is famous in this town where he raised giant pumpkins.  He won the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth Competition 4 times.  Now people all over the world use his seeds in pumpkin growing contests.  Below are several photos of Dill's Farm where his family still grows and sells giant pumpkins.

Homestead surrounded by pumpkin fields.

Entrance to produce store and barns.

This is their biggest pumpkin so far this year!  The largest pumpkin ever grown from the Dill's Atlantic Giant seed is 1,800 pounds!

I'm looking out over the pumpkin fields wishing I had room in my trailer for a giant pumpkin!

We saw 200 or more 450 pound pumpkins and probably 50 in the 750+ range.  Many of the bigger ones had blankets on them to keep the frost off.  The Dill's also sell giant squash and watermelon as well as regular-sized produce.

Outside of Winsor at high tide.

Six hours later in the same spot at low tide - that's mud you see, not water.

Also in Winsor, high tide.

Low tide - notice the home across the river in both photos.
