Lunch in Fall River

Scott and I are using the book Roadfood by Jane and Michael Stern; it's lunchtime, Fall River is just off the highway, and it has 2 spots!  We decide on Hartley's Pork Pies.  What a great place in a predominately Portugeuse neighborhood but it's take out - 2 pork pies, 2 chicken pot pies, 1 meat pie, 1 chili pie, and a giant piece of home-made carrot cake later we decide this is dinner and head to Nick's for a coney dog!

On our way to Nick's we see upcoming election signs, on a closer look - one name jumps out!

Linda, you have our VOTE!  And this brought back many special memories for us of our friend Mama Linda.  Now, on to Nick's - the waitress finds out we're from Oregon, she's excited, the coney dog meat sauce spices she's been using for years are made in Sherwood, Oregon.  It's amazing how one stop can be so serendipitous!
