Ticonderoga

Pilothouse - cruising speed was 17 miles per hour with a top speed of 23 miles per hour.

Stair bannister - notice the detailed hand carving.

Etched glass from Europe and gold leaf on the ceiling; an elegant passenger ship.

Bedroom for the crew; often of college age because the Ti ran from "ice in to ice out" on Lake Champlain.

Articulating paddle wheel

The Ticonderoga was an aside-paddle wheel passenger steamboat with a walking beam engine.  The black triangle with the red rooster on top would rock back and forth as she moved through the water.

Looking out through the Circus Building window.

The Circus Building was built to house the Arnold Circus parade of over 4,000 carved to scale figures.  Figures include circus wagons, all kinds of animals, clowns, acrobats, and more!  It is 500 feet long and was built from 1925-1955.  We also saw vintage circus posters and carousel animals.  Above is the miniature Kirk Brothers three-ring circus that has over 3,500 carved figures.  It was carved over 40 years by Edgar Kirk using only a treadle jigsaw and a penknife.
