There are approximately 32,000 oil and gas production wells in Illinois. Most of them are stripper wells with a daily production of 1 1/2 barrels of oil.
Some can even be found in the library parking lot! So, tell me why is gas $3.79 per gallon in Illinois? More than 30¢ higher than neighboring states...
