Goleta Butterfly Grove

Ellwood Mesa
Looking up this canyon was magical; monarch butterflies were flitting everywhere.

We followed these markers for 1/2 mile until we reached the Goleta Butterfly Grove.  Butterflies are found in the Ellwood Main Grove from mid-November to mid-February.  It's estimated there were 4500 monarchs when we visited!

Groups of butterflies were hanging throughout the eucalyptus forest.

On the trail of the illusive butterfly!
