A Day of Remembrance

Another day of travel from Medford across the California border (lucky for us - we got to keep our Harry & David pears!) to Redding.  We passed exits for Cottonwood, Mt. Lassen, Chico, and Susanville - all of which remind me of friends Liz and Abe Gordon.  Liz got her education degree at Chico and they hiked Mt. Lassen as teens.  I wonder if Liz's mom is still on the farm in Susanville?  It's been 10 years since we lost Liz followed shortly by Abe.  And I still miss them...

Mt. Shasta loomed large and beautiful - the 14,179 foot sleeping volcano really was spectacular against the blue sky!

The California drought is visible from Lake Shasta; house boats moored at Bridge Bay.

First palm tree of the trip...
